Just when the Jaylen Brown vs. Stephen A. Smith drama started cooling down, Kendrick Perkins showed up carrying gasoline, screenshots, and enough ESPN energy to restart the entire fire.
Apparently no basketball argument is complete until Perkins enters the chat like an uncle at a barbecue yelling opinions nobody asked for.
The former Boston Celtics big man inserted himself directly into the feud this week, claiming several former Celtics players are not exactly thrilled with how Brown has handled himself this offseason.
And Perkins did not stop there. He even leaked text messages from ex-Celtics players to back up his point. Nothing says “NBA offseason” like grown men passing around private opinions through television segments and social media clips.
Kendrick Perkins shares text messages from former Celtics players on Jaylen Brown and claims they don’t ‘rock’ with Jaylen Brown after his recent comments:
“I get another text that says ‘hey, JB trippin.’ Another text from a former Celtics player that said ‘JB, lack of… https://t.co/vkqQc2UzYu pic.twitter.com/E0lUvAP3Sl

At this stage, basketball drama is basically reality TV with sneakers.
“I get another text that says ‘Hey, JB trippin,'” Perkins said (11:30 mark). “Another text from a former Celtics player that said, ‘JB, lack of accountability.’ Right? … JB, guess what? It’s a lot of people in the organization, a lot of former players, legends, that don’t agree with you, bro! They don’t like the way that this looks … This instance, I can’t rock with you, JB. Guess what? There’s a lot of former Celtic players that’s not rocking with you either.”
Celtics fans are split down the middle. Some agree Brown has become too defensive lately, others think Perkins and Stephen A. are simply doing what sports media always does: creating drama because silence does not get ratings.
Kendrick Perkins responds to Jaylen Brown saying this was his “favorite season”:
“There’s a lot of people in the organization, there’s a lot of former players, legends, that don’t agree with you bro.”

And honestly, both sides probably have a point.
Still, the situation proves one thing about the modern NBA: the offseason is no longer about rest.
It is about podcasts, cryptic posts, leaked opinions, and television debates that somehow become national emergencies.
And Kendrick Perkins? He clearly plans to stay right in the middle of all of it with a microphone in one hand and mysterious text messages in the other.
