The NFL has officially reached the stage where even weddings turn into sports discourse. This week, Jalen Hurts found himself at the center of unexpected drama after not attending the wedding of his longtime teammate and friend A.J. Brown, who recently married Kelsey Riley at the luxurious Montage Laguna Beach.
And yes, the internet noticed immediately.
The wedding itself sounded like something out of a movie. Ocean views, fancy guests, and perfect weather.
Except for one thing: the Eagles quarterback was not there.
Now, in normal human life, missing a wedding is not exactly headline material. People miss weddings all the time, flights get delayed, schedules happen. Life exists.
But in NFL world? It becomes a full investigation.
Fans started asking questions about why Jalen Hurts was nowhere to be found at the wedding.
Sources close to the situation tell TMZ that despite knowing each other for years and playing on the same team … we’re told Jalen didn’t make the lavish beachside ceremony. However, it’s unclear if he was invited.
Jalen’s absence is interesting on a number of levels. He’s known A.J. since high school and is the godfather to A.J.’s daughter, Jersee. Jalen tried to recruit A.J. to Alabama to play together in college, and pushed hard for the Eagles to acquire him a trade. But after 4 years together in Philly, there are rumors of a rift.
Jalen wasn’t the only Eagles teammate who wasn’t there … it looks like no current Eagles were … though we did spot former Eagles player Darius Slay.
A.J. Brown’s wedding continued without interruption, love still happened, cake was still eaten, photos were still taken. The world kept turning, even without a quarterback in attendance.
At the end of the day, it is a reminder that professional athletes live two lives. One is public, where every absence becomes a headline, the other is private, where people sometimes just important miss events.
