After Sunday’s 23-19 playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers, which featured several drops by the star wide receiver and a violent sideline altercation between the two, Eagles coach Nick Sirianni defended A.J. Brown.
Nick stated:
“He’s got the best hands I’ve ever seen. The way he catches the ball, the amount of different types of catches that he’s made. When you get as many targets as he does, you’re going to have some drops,”. “I know he will beat himself up on that.”
Brown tied a career high with two drops. One of them occurred on third and five from Philadelphia’s 40-yard line with just over two minutes left in the game, when the Eagles were behind by four points.
The Eagles ultimately pushed it to San Francisco’s 21-yard line when the drive collapsed, ending their season in a dismal manner. Jalen Hurts kept the possession alive by throwing a ball to tight end Dallas Goedert on fourth down.
Brown declined to address the media after the game after finishing with three receptions for 25 yards on seven targets.
Late in the first half, Sirianni and Brown engaged in a lively exchange. After a third-down incompletion, Brown and Eagles left lineman Jordan Mailata were reluctant to leave the field. As the special teams prepared to kick, Sirianni ran down the sideline and yelled at them. Dom DiSandro, the top security officer for the Eagles, quietly led Brown in a different route after Brown seemed to take offense.
