The internet was in absolute shambles this week after leaked text messages allegedly revealed a wild “playbook” some white women use to lock down wealthy black athletes. And listen, social media handled this news exactly how you’d expect: with chaos, memes, arguments, fake relationship experts, and at least 5,000 people suddenly acting like FBI investigators.

According to the alleged leaked messages, a group of white women allegedly shared tips and strategies on how to meet, date, and eventually marry professional black athletes. Basically, LinkedIn networking, but with courtside seats and private jets.

Romance has apparently entered its corporate era. The discussions reportedly included advice on where athletes hang out, how to position yourself socially, what personality traits to present, and how to avoid looking “too thirsty” while being extremely thirsty at the exact same time.

Modern dating truly deserves its own Netflix documentary.

The internet, as always, immediately split into two teams.

One side called the messages manipulative and predatory, arguing that some women were treating relationships like long-term investment plans with sneaker contracts attached.

The other side basically shrugged and said, “Welcome to rich people dating.” And honestly, they kind of have a point.

Meanwhile, athletes online were pretending to be shocked by all this like professional sports haven’t been connected to celebrity dating culture for decades. Sir, if you’re a millionaire athlete with millions of followers, luxury cars, and VIP access everywhere, women may occasionally pursue you strategically. It’s the reality.

Still, the leaked texts has sparked a larger conversation about dating culture in high-profile circles. Are some relationships genuine? Of course. Are some people chasing lifestyles instead of love? Absolutely. That’s been happening since ancient kings were handing out castles.

The only thing that changed is the receipts are now digital.

At the end of the day, rich black athletes and celebrities live in a different dating universe than regular people. The stakes are bigger, the attention is louder, and apparently, the scouting reports are way more detailed than anybody expected.
