Only Mike Tyson could casually tell a story involving divorce, heartbreak, and Brad Pitt like it was just another Tuesday afternoon.
The boxing legend recently appeared on Theo Von’s podcast, ‘This Past Weekend,’ and somehow managed to send the internet into chaos with one unbelievable story from his past.
Theo asked Tyson a simple question: had anyone ever stolen his girlfriend?
And Mike basically revealed that time he caught his ex-wife Robin Givens with young Brad Pitt.
Tyson recalled the moment he found his ex-wife, Robin Givens, with a young Brad Pitt back when Tyson and Givens’ marriage was falling apart. This was before Pitt became one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Back then, he was apparently just a very handsome guy accidentally wandering into one of the most dangerous relationship situations imaginable.
‘That’s an interesting story. He didn’t steal her from me, but me and my wife were going through a divorce,’ recalled Tyson, who married the actress in 1988 before they divorced a year later.
At that time, Iron Mike claimed, he and Givens were sleeping together by night while ‘fighting in the papers’ by day.
‘But, one day, I went over to the house… she wasn’t home. Nobody,’ Tyson continued. ‘Then, [I saw her] driving up the road with the BMW that I bought her.’ Tyson spotted someone else in the car.
‘I thought it was one of her friends from “Head of the Class” [the sitcom Givens appeared in as Darlene Merriman between 1986 and 1991].
‘But it wasn’t one of her friends. It was Brad Pitt,’ Tyson recalled. ‘He wasn’t Brad Pitt yet. I didn’t know who the f*** he was… he didn’t even have a car.’
This was peak Mike Tyson era. The man was heavyweight champion of the world and one of the most intimidating athletes alive. Seeing him unexpectedly appear while you are hanging out with his wife probably feels like your soul leaving your body temporarily.
