Mackenzie Naught, a 25-year-old elementary school teacher from Washington, allegedly decided that midnight sneaky-link activities with a teenager inside his truck was somehow a smart life choice.
According to reports, the married teacher allegedly confessed everything to her husband. Imagine thinking you’re having a normal weekend and suddenly your spouse drops a Netflix crime documentary plot directly into your living room.
Court documents claim the drama started brewing through Snapchat messages. When has Snapchat ever been the location of good decision-making? The app deserves its own wing in the Hall of Bad Ideas.
Authorities say Mackenzie allegedly became “flirty” with the teenage boy while her husband was asleep. The teen reportedly hesitated about meeting up with her, which honestly makes him the smartest person in this entire story. But eventually, he agreed and picked her up near her home around 2:15 a.m.
At 2:15 in the morning, most teachers are either sleeping, grading papers, or binge-watching reality TV while eating snacks they promised themselves they wouldn’t touch. Apparently, Mackenzie chose option four: “destroy my entire life speedrun.”
The alleged meetup reportedly happened inside the teen’s truck during a late-night encounter the week before her arrest. And just when you thought the story couldn’t get messier, reports say she was actually friends with the boy’s family.
Police arrested the teacher Sunday on child sex crime allegations, turning what should’ve been a quiet Mother’s Day weekend into full-blown headline madness.
Naught allegedly asked the boy, who studies at the nearby St. John Endicott High School, to drive to a “little spot” where she suddenly kissed him, according to the docs.
The two then allegedly had sex, and she told the boy not to tell anyone amid fears she could be busted.
Naught’s husband of four years told police that the boy also admitted to having sex.
School officials put Naught on leave just eight months into her teaching gig, and she appeared in Whitman County Superior Court on Monday on a charge of first-degree sexual misconduct with a minor.
“Our priority continues to be the safety, well-being, and support of our students and school community,” school officials said, responding to the allegations.
One bad decision can ruin everything. Multiple bad decisions at 2 a.m. with Snapchat involved? That’s practically a disaster starter pack.
