Former NFL wide receiver Andre Rison was booked into the Oakland County Jail on Friday night to begin serving a five-day sentence for a second-offense operating while intoxicated conviction.
The 59-year-old Rison pleaded guilty to the charge, which stems from an August 2025 incident in Troy, Michigan, according to court records. An additional charge of open intoxication in a motor vehicle was dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
Rison had posted a $5,000 bond earlier in the case. Following a hearing this week, he was sentenced to five days in jail, 18 months of probation and more than $2,300 in fines and fees. He is scheduled to be released Sunday.
Rison enjoyed a 12-year NFL career as a productive wide receiver, suiting up for the Indianapolis Colts, Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders. He earned five Pro Bowl selections and won a Super Bowl championship with the Packers following the 1996 season.
TMZ first reported the booking and noted that the outlet had reached out to Rison’s attorney for comment but had not received a response.
The current jail stint marks the resolution of the second-offense OWI case rather than a new arrest. No further details from the original 2025 traffic stop — such as observed impairment, field sobriety testing or chemical test results — have been publicly detailed in court records referenced in the reporting.
Rison’s football career featured strong production across multiple teams and offensive systems during an era of evolving passing attacks. His legal situation now draws attention years after his playing days concluded.
