New York City finally got what it had been begging, praying, and occasionally yelling at television screens for decades to receive: an NBA championship.
After the Knicks secured a nail-biting 94-90 victory on Saturday night, the city exploded into celebration mode. Fans flooded the streets, car horns became musical instruments, complete strangers hugged each other. Somewhere, a traffic light probably got high-fived.
But while thousands of Knicks fans were celebrating in bars, restaurants, and packed city streets, a few die-hard supporters took things to an entirely different level.
Update: Last night, our baby did in fact arrive just before the Knicks won in five.
My wife and I are unbelievably happy. We have a healthy, adorable baby boy. Was tempted to name him Jalen Karl-Anthony OG Baba, but we kept our original choice.

They celebrated by naming their newborn babies after Knicks stars, Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby.
One Upper West Side couple introduced their baby girl to the world during last night’s nail-biting finish and documented the special moment on TikTok.
“Babe, what are we going to name her?” the new mama-to-be asks from behind the camera, filming her proud hubby holding their little bundle of joy.
“For starters, king of all names, Jalen or maybe Brunsina. Hart, as is near and dear. Kat, Anunoby, OG or Ogugua, actually. I don’t know, Ogugua has really been growing on me,” the proud dad jokingly told his wife as he held his little swaddled newborn, referencing the names of Knicks superstars such as Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, and OG Anunoby.
“Backup names, this one has been putting it all out there — Alvarado, Mikal, Clarkson, McBride, Robinson… can’t go wrong with any of them,” he continued.
The Knicks ended a championship drought. Fans lost their minds, New York barely slept, and somewhere across the city, newborns entered the world carrying names inspired by basketball legends.

It’s a beautiful story. At least until little Jalen Brunson, Anunoby ask why his entire identity was created during a championship celebration.
