A former Indiana substitute teacher has been jailed after admitting to sending inappropriate messages and photos to an underage student. Cassidy Carter, who worked as a substitute teacher at South Dearborn Middle School in Aurora, Indiana, was accused of engaging in an improper relationship with a student while she was working at the school.

According to court documents, Carter began substituting at the middle school in late 2023. Investigators said the student later reported receiving inappropriate messages and photos from Carter. The case came to light after the student disclosed the alleged communication.

Court records state that the student told investigators Carter sent unclothed pictures of herself while taking showers. The student said some of the photos were sent late at night. Investigators also documented messages that allegedly showed Carter expressing inappropriate feelings toward the student.

One message cited in court documents reportedly included Carter telling the student, “God I want you … so bad.” Authorities said the communication crossed professional and legal boundaries between a teacher and a student.

The boy had several nude pics of Carter, then 21, on his phone when the educator was arrested — along with a series of disturbing, loved-up messages the teacher had sent the 14-year-old student.

“God I want you… so bad,” she told him in one exchange, according to documents seen by the Daily Mail.

Carter, then 21, left her role at the school in November 2023 — two months after starting — after her behavior was reported to a school staffer before being arrested the following January.

Carter initially faced six years in prison after being charged with solicitation.

But that charge was dropped when the boy moved out of the area and didn’t want to be involved in the case.

Carter ended up spending two years in jail.

The case against Cassidy Carter serves as another reminder that educators are held to a high standard. A position of trust comes with responsibility, and violations of that trust can have lasting consequences for everyone involved.
