Phoenix Suns forward Miles Bridges has accused Mychelle Johnson, the mother of his children, of assault and battery after she allegedly threw water on him during a June 22 custody exchange in North Carolina.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Johnson faces a misdemeanor assault and battery charge. In the filings, Bridges claims Johnson “threw water on me in front of the kids and said she’ll do it again if we argued.” He told authorities he asked why she did it, and she replied it was because they were arguing. Bridges stated in the documents that he is “scared for my kid’s safety.”
Johnson has responded with her own court filings, alleging that Bridges filed the charges to harass her and have her arrested in an effort to remove the children from her care. She claims Bridges tried to run her over with a golf cart during the same custody exchange, which prompted her to throw the water. Johnson has also denied earlier allegations of cyberstalking that led to a temporary restraining order Bridges obtained against her this year.
The June 22 incident occurred in front of their children and is the latest development in a long-running and contentious custody and co-parenting dispute.
Bridges and Johnson have a documented history of domestic disputes. In June 2022, Bridges was arrested in Los Angeles on felony domestic violence charges stemming from an alleged assault on Johnson in front of their children at the time. He later pleaded no contest to one count of injuring the parent of a child, received three years of probation, and served a 30-game NBA suspension. Additional incidents followed, including a 2023 allegation that Bridges threw billiard balls at Johnson’s car while children were inside.
Earlier in 2026, Bridges secured a temporary restraining order against Johnson after claiming she engaged in cyberstalking and appeared at one of his games in an attempt to interfere with his vehicle.
Bridges was acquired by the Phoenix Suns from the Charlotte Hornets in a late-June trade that sent Grayson Allen, Royce O’Neale, and draft considerations to Charlotte. The deal has not yet received final league approval, though Bridges has already participated in Suns summer league activities.
The new misdemeanor charge against Johnson adds another layer to the couple’s ongoing family court matters. No additional court dates or outcomes have been publicly reported in the latest case.
Both parties continue to trade allegations amid what appears to be a highly contentious custody battle. The presence of children during the most recent incident has been highlighted in the legal filings from both sides.
