Mike Brown has apparently found the perfect championship strategy.
Forget film sessions, forget defensive schemes and forget yelling about rotations. Just go to Italy.
The Knicks coach is enjoying some well-earned downtime with his wife, Rochelle “Ro” Ledesma, after helping New York celebrate its championship season. The couple escaped to Porto Cervo, a gorgeous seaside resort in northern Sardinia, where the biggest decision on the schedule was apparently whether to swim or stay under the umbrella.
Honestly, that sounds like a pretty solid game plan.
Brown and Ledesma were spotted enjoying the Italian sunshine on Sunday in new beach photos. The couple, who usually keep their personal life away from the spotlight, looked relaxed and happy as they spent time together by the water.
Brown sported white swim shorts and sunglasses while Ledesma donned a blue bikini.
The pair’s European vacation came after a whirlwind summer for Brown.
After spending months dealing with the pressure that comes with coaching the Knicks, Brown deserves that vacation.
In his first year at the helm, Brown coached the Knicks to their first championship in 53 years against the Spurs in June.
The Knicks won four of five against San Antonio, and clinched the NBA title in a 94-90 win in Game 5 of the NBA Finals.
After that, Brown’s media tour included stops at “The Tonight Show” and “Good Morning America.”
He also received a standing ovation and applause — as well as “let’s go Knicks” chants — when he hit up the Polo Bar in mid-June.
After a championship run, it makes sense swapping basketball courts for crystal-clear Mediterranean water. Brown has spent enough time staring at basketball screens. Now he can stare at the ocean.
And judging by those beach photos, he is taking the assignment seriously.
For now, Brown and Ledesma appear perfectly happy enjoying their Italian escape.
Basketball can wait, Italy has called a timeout.
