Sean “Diddy” Combs has apparently found out that some things do not come back from federal custody.
A judge has signed an order handing over cash and electronics seized during the searches connected to his 2024 arrest. So, yes, Uncle Sam is apparently keeping the receipts.
The haul includes about $9K in cash, along with a collection of electronic devices taken during the searches. The order makes the forfeiture permanent.
And losing $9K might not sound like the end of the world for a music mogul. For most people, though, that is still a very painful trip to the ATM.
Judge Arun Subramanian — who you may remember from presiding over Diddy’s criminal trial — signed an order Tuesday officially forfeiting a bunch of property to Uncle Sam, authorizing the feds to take possession and dispose of the items in accordance with the law.
It’s a long list of items … multiple iPhones, iPads, hard drives — and even $9K cash seized from the Park Hyatt Hotel on September 16, 2024 — when Diddy was taken into custody.
The docs note no claims contesting the forfeiture had been filed in the 30 days since the forfeiture notice was published … so the judge signed off on the order, and now it’s a done deal.
The judge has already made the decision.
So while Diddy deals with his legal battles and prison sentence, some of his former gadgets are starting a completely different journey.
Where they end up is anyone’s guess, but if there is ever a government auction featuring a suspiciously familiar laptop, people may suddenly become very interested in bargain shopping.
