Last August, when Hayden Panettiere was discovered dead in a Greenville apartment, numerous fans were left stunned and deeply grieving.
At that point, though, the exact manner of her death remained unknown. The Greenville County Coroner’s Office has now disclosed what killed the star.
There was “no sign of trauma” on her body, which eliminated any possibility or indication of an assault or an injury from another cause that might have contributed to Panettiere’s death.

The Greenville Police had already said earlier that they did not suspect foul play in the star’s death.
A spokesperson stated:
“The preliminary investigation has not indicated any signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances”. “An acquaintance of Ms Panettiere placed the 911 call.”
Instead, the coroner determined that the “toxic effects” of multiple substances had caused the actress’s death. According to the medical examiner, the drugs detected in Panettiere’s system that led to her death were fentanyl, Xanax, 4-ANPP, methocarbamol, and quetiapine.
Yet there is another crucial detail: the report also labeled the actress’s death as an “accident”. This indicates that authorities are unsure whether the drugs Panettiere took, which ended her life, were intentional. The actress was only 36 years old when she died.
