Spike Lee had to be held back Wednesday night after a fan filmed him during a pregame dinner at Yankee Stadium, according to video posted by sports radio host Andy Slater.
The roughly 11-second clip, shared by Slater on X, shows the Academy Award-winning director in a red Yankees cap at a crowded stadium restaurant, wide-eyed as people close in around his table. A man in a blue plaid blazer and lanyard stands and waves an arm, motioning someone away. No punches are thrown in the footage. Diners nearby keep eating steaks, fries and burgers as staff watch.
“Spike Lee has to be held back from going after a fan while dining pregame at Yankee Stadium,” Slater wrote. He said the fan was filming Lee while he ate and asked how he felt about Palestine, “according to people closer to them at the table.”

Slater, a Fox Sports South Florida host, did not identify the fan. Lee, 69, has not publicly commented. The Yankees did not immediately respond to the video.
Lee, born Shelton Jackson Lee, is a fixture at New York sporting events, best known for his courtside seat at Madison Square Garden during Knicks games. Wednesday’s scene unfolded as the Yankees hosted the Boston Red Sox at Yankee Stadium.
The post drew hundreds of thousands of views within hours. Replies split between fans who said Lee should have been left alone at dinner and others who treated the clip as another Lee courtside blowup, this time in the Bronx instead of the Garden.
