We’ve been reporting since this Morning on the four Alabama Crimson Tide football players who were arrested and charged with robbery after beating two students, one unconscious, and stealing their belongings.
Alabama Athletic Director Mal Moore released a statement on the matter this morning.
“This is a very serious matter and we are very disappointed in the actions that have resulted in the charges against these student-athletes. In this type of situation, the Athletics Department works in conjunction with the University. We will have more to say at the appropriate time.”
Alabama head coach Nick Saban has now released and made a statement of his own, suspending the four players indefinitely according to College Football Talk.
The young men charged are indefinitely suspended as we continue to gather information and talk to the appropriate people. The University and football program have strict guidelines regarding issues of this magnitude. This behavior is unacceptable for any student-athlete at the University of Alabama and not representative of our football program.
I would expect more movement on this situation as details continue to come out. As I wrote earlier, this is the 2nd arrest for Eddie Williams in two weeks.
This also the 2nd arrest for Brent Calloway since he arrived at Alabama. These four have to do better.
