Eddie Alvarez has been engaged in a very public back-and-forth with Bellator MMA and now Eddie finally got what he’s wanted all along, to be released.
As soon as Eddie found out that he’d be released by Bellator discussions began with the UFC. Alvarez was a two-time champion in Bellator but he hasn’t fought in almost a year. His first UFC fight will be against Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone at UFC 178. Cowboy is currently ranked #4 in the UFC lightweight division and is on a four fight winning streak.
If Alvarez manages to take out Cerrone he’ll be on a fast track towards a UFC title shot.
Though the loss of Jones vs Cormier hurts UFC 178 the card is still extremely balanced throughout.
The latest UFC 178 card:
- Demetrious Johnson vs. Chris Cariaso
