On a recent broadcast of Inside The NBA, Charles Barkley sort of went on a rage. After venting his frustration about coaches not being held accountable for players’ actions, Gilbert Arenas shared his thoughts on the entire experience with the legendary Philadelphia 76ers player.
Agent Zero made the decision to voice his unvarnished opinion regarding Charles Barkley’s argument that the players on the floor, not the coaches coaching from the sidelines, should be held responsible for the team’s failures.
Recently, Darvin Ham, the Lakers’ head coach, left the team.
Gilbert Arenas speaks about Charles Barkley
Shortly afterward, the owner of the Phoenix Suns also spoke at a press conference, expressing little to no confidence in Frank Vogel to lead the team.
Charles Barkley publicly attributed the clubs’ defeat on Wednesday night to the players rather than the coaches. As stated by Barkley on Inside the NBA,
“Anybody who thinks the reason the Lakers suck is because of Darvin Ham or the reason the Suns suck is because of Frank Vogel; you don’t know what you’re talking about…The Lakers suck and the Suns suck because of the players. It has nothing to do with the coaches.”
Gilbert Arenas didn’t appear to agree at all, despite Sir Charles’ strong opinions.
“I don’t like him…I just don’t like how he talks about whose fault it is because when he was playing he didn’t take no responsibility for what was going on with him…I hate when you get to a certain stage and start throwing shots when you were a problem yourself when you played.”
It is sufficient to say that Gilbert Arenas disagrees wholeheartedly with everything Charles Barkley has said. He might not be entirely correct, though, in what he says about the situation.
Barkley is among the select few who has never shied away from accepting responsibility for his deeds.
The NBA veteran has even publicly acknowledged the blunders he made when making appearances on a variety of shows. This alone demonstrates an unwavering sense of accountability that is sadly absent from today’s media.
