Losing any game can get you roused up and Jets head coach Rex Ryan is no different. Emotions can be at an all time high, especially after losing a game and sometimes, unintentionally, words happen and they might cost you a pretty penny. Rex Ryan, has stated that he is stunned by the letter he received containing the information about his fine.
“I was stunned by it, to say the least,” Ryan said, commenting for the first time.
“I did get the letter (from the league), and I’ll pull the old Forrest Gump: That’s all I’ll say about that,” he said. “We’ll see what happens.”
Pressed, Ryan added: “I don’t want to get into it. We all know I thought during the game that … I never thought our quarterback was as protected as I would’ve liked to have seen him. That’s a true statement.
“I’d really rather not get into exactly who I was talking to. I apologize if I offended anybody. It wasn’t my intention. It was meant to be a private conversation.”
Ryan received the fine after being caught on camera screaming “f–k you” as he was walking midfield for the post game handshake. No one knows who Ryan was referring to but either way, whether officiate, player or coach, its not sportsmanlike. Rex Ryan received the high fine based off his history. He currently has a career total of $225k worth of fines, he’s been in coaching for 27 years.
