The Sacramento Kings fired head coach Mike Malone after an 11-13 start to the season, and star center DeMarcus Cousins being out with an illness.
Sacramento was just a half-game out of the eighth seed in the Western Conference despite Cousins missing 15 games while he recovered from viral meningitis. The reason for the firing was “philosophical differences” with Kings management, and his defense-first mentality didn’t mesh with GM Pete D’Alessandro.
Cousins is the franchise player, but revealed at practice that no one inside the organization informed him that Malone was out.
He said he found out via twitter.
Synopsis from DeMarcus Cousins at Kings practice: It's a business. Yes, he was surprised. No, he wasn't consulted. Yes, he trusts them.

Cousins found out on Twitter. Asked about players' reaction, "I think this is the perfect weather for this situation." It's gray & rainy.
