Jameis’ lawyer probably wants to take these comments back, but too late now.
"He's ready to be an NFL player on the field. But he's not ready to be an NFL player off the field" – Cornwell on Winston. Gotdamn.

Then came the backtracking.
Just spoke with Cornwell. The implication is that Jameis still has some growing to do, not that he's unprepared to be in the NFL.

"We have to assist him in growing and developing as a man. And it's not going to be easy" – Cornwell on Winston.

"I don’t think (Winston) is unique. I don’t think anyone is ready. No one is ready for this world when they come into it" – Cornwell.

Even if you believe that Jameis didn’t rape anyone, he still had a string of questionable decisions at his time at FSU. In the end, if you can play teams will hope you will mature and I think that is the point his lawyer is trying to make.
