Denial is a hell of a drug.
If Pacquiao keeps talking like this even fewer people are going to believe his stories about his bum shoulder. People had a lot of complaints about the fight, but outcome was never in dispute. It was a very easy fight to score with almost everyone’s scorecard ranging from 118-100 to 116-112. The consensus being that Pacquiao wasn’t close to winning more than 4 rounds in the entire fight. Frankly, he only won one round clearly and that was the 4th round. Even the rounds he won on the official scorecards were debatable beyond the 4th round (BSO had it 117-111 for Mayweather). Here is what Manny had to say.
Pacquiao also spoke with a local television reporter and said he reviewed a video of the fight several times and still believes he won.
“I reviewed it repeatedly. I scored myself,” Pacquiao said. “I was ahead two points.”
It is hard to accept defeat, but Pacquiao lost and he should own up to it.
