Regardless of your race, if they murders in Charleston didn’t have some effect on you, I would have to question if you have any heart at all.
When you have this type of massacre you would hope that it brings people closer together, not push them apart. I try to remind myself that the majority of people in our country aren’t racists, maybe a little ignorant and believe too many stereotypes, but aren’t racist.
For those who believe that racism doesn’t exist though, this is a very stark reminder that there are some very evil people in our world who will kill people simply based off the color of their skin, religion or sexual orientation.
It isn’t surprising that the sports community have rallied around Charleston with Dwight Howard taking it a step further by traveling to Charleston to attend a vigil.

There are times when what we think about someone on the court or off the field aren’t important anymore and real life is the only thing that matters.
Hopefully, more athletes like Howard will give support when these tragedies happen, because like it or not, they are role models, they are people who bring more attention and healing to a community.
So, good for Dwight and god bless the people of Charleston.
