Where I am from a sucker punch is when you either hit someone from behind or the side when they are not looking at you.
If you are looking at someone directly in the face and they hit you for talking trash to me that is not a sucker punch.
So, it doesn’t matter what Todd Bowles calls it in my eyes IK did not sucker punch Geno Smith. From what I have been told is Geno was talking trash over not paying his debt and got KOed for his troubles.
Ex-NFL DB and ESPN analyst Ryan Clark has heard the same.
Have confirmed with multiple sources that Geno Smith was not, I repeat was not sucker punched! So let's stop that narrative.

This does not make it acceptable or ok to punch a teammate. There is much more to this story than an "innocent" qb minding his business and

TMZ has a different version of the story completely.
Sources inside the Jets locker room tell us backup linebacker IK Enemkpali — the puncher — organized a youth football camp and charity in Texas last month. He invited Geno to attend — even put his face on the flyer — but for some reason Geno didn’t make it.
We’re told IK stepped to Geno to talk about it on Tuesday, but Geno told him to back off because he wasn’t going to discuss it at that moment. Geno turned away, but IK stood his ground … and socked Geno in the jaw.
One player told us, “He straight sucker punched him.” As we reported, Jets brass immediately cut IK from the team … and Geno’s out for 6-10 weeks.
We may never get the full story.
