Manny Pacquiao was scheduled to announce his opponent this Friday for what it is believed to be his last fight but unfortunately he doesn’t seem to know who he wants to face as Bob Arum’s team released a statement.
“I was asked to tell you on Bob’s behalf that, unfortunately, Top Rank will not have an announcement on truTV as originally planned as Manny is not ready to make a decision on his opponent yet,” Sternburg said.
Timothy Bradley was seen as the favorite to face Pacquiao with Terence Crawford being an option. Those fighters are both promoted by Top Rank which would facilitate the fight. The general public might have its preference in the person of Amir Khan but unfortunately in boxing, there is a lot going on behind the scenes and Al Haymon, who is representing Khan, doesn’t generally do business with Bob Arum meaning we might have to settle with a Top Rank fighter.
The fight will be taking place on April 9th in Las Vegas.
