Heading into the 2016 campaign, the Chicago Cubs were looked at as one of the favorites to win the fall classic.
However, things took a nasty turn last night, when rising star Kyle Schwarber went down last night following a collision with Dexter Fowler.
Most teams would be in total scramble mode trying to replace a guy of Schwarber’s caliber, but not the Cubs.
Chicago has plenty of depth from Jorge Soler to Matt Szczur to Javier Beez to Shane Victorino to Munenori Kawasaki amongst others.
Schwarber was also the Cubs backup catcher, but when you have two other catchers on the roster in Miguel Montero and David Ross, you can breathe a little easier.
Yes, Schwarber will be missed, but at least Chicago has the depth to make up for his loss.
