The question of who will be the backup quarterback as they face the Browns this Sunday is a constant one. In fact, Jets head coach Todd Bowles has had enough of them and has decided to not share it.
Year in and year out, the Jets are faced with the same concern, their quarterback. After Geno Smith’s terrible injury that resulted in an ACL tear, the question of who is the backup quarterback is lingering about. There are a couple of options and as discussed yesterday in a separate post, Bryce Petty is the guy for the job. Jets Head Coach Todd Bowles grew awfully irritated about naming the backup quarterback that he quite frankly said nope to revealing the name.
“I’m not revealing that right now,” Bowles said. “I’ve decided, but I haven’t talked to [the coaching staff] yet, to tell them what I’ve decided. I’ve pretty much got my mind made up.”
This is just an odd stance as well as strange refusal. Unless he’s planning a big presentation on the backup quarterback, there’s no need to conceal that name.
“No offense, but if I’m not going to tell you who it is, why are we having this discussion?” Bowles told reporters. “Because it’s really a waste of time. I’m not going to tell you anything. It’s not open for discussion. Guys, let it ride. Can we move on from here? Let’s move on, please. It’s not happening.”
If you too are curious as to who will be named, there’s only one way to find out who will be backup. The Jets face the Browns on Sunday October 30 at 1 pm.
