A man from Texas sued a woman for $17.31. Brandon Vezmar, 37, of Austin, claimed Crystal Cruz was “a threat to civilised society” after she used her phone to read and send text messages during the 3D showing of “Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2” on Saturday.
He sued Ms.Cruz for the price of the movie ticket, the two met on the dating site Bumble.
Crystal states she was simply texting her friend to let her know she had made it safely to the date. During the date Vezmar says that Ms. Cruz got up and told him she had to ”use the restroom and would be right back”, after he suggested she take her texting outside. Brandon tells Inside Edition, Crystal never came back. After a few days he decided to text, asking her to reimburse him for the price of her movie ticket.
Crystal thought the idea was just plain crazy. Vezmar filed a petition in the small claims court in Travis County. The petition says her texting was a “direct violation” of the cinema’s policy and the woman “adversely” affected Mr Vezmar’s viewing experience and that of other patrons. She has since repaid him for the movie ticket.
On the clip he evens goes the extra mile to count out the $17.34 just to make sure it’s all there.
