It is going to have a big first-week number, how it sustains will be interesting to me. The biggest movies always have a drop after the first week, but how far of a drop determines how big the movie becomes.
For example, Batman vs. Superman had BIG opening weekend then cratered. Hopefully, that won’t be an issue for Black Panther.
It is currently tracking at a $165 million opening, here is where that would put it in relation to other Superhero movies.
That would put “Black Panther” among the top five or six openings for a superhero movie, including “The Avengers” ($207.4 million), “Avengers: Age of Ultron” ($191.3 million), “Captain America: Civil War” ($179.1 million), “Iron Man 3” ($174.1 million), “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” ($166 million) and “The Dark Knight Rises” ($160.9 million).
All this means is we are getting a Black Panther sequel.
