Isaiah Thomas is looking to re-invent himself and get that max deal. Recently he signed for the veteran minimum to join the up and coming Denver Nuggets. The Nuggets head coach Michael Malone has coached Thomas before, this move makes a lot of sense just because the two are familiar with one another. Thomas played for Malone during his time in Sacramento with the Kings.
Thomas ran into TMZ Sports and let them know the game plan for this upcoming season.
“The goal is just to show that I’m healthy and I’m the same player I was before, “I just need one year. We’ll make the playoffs … and then we’ll go from there.”
One thing about Thomas is he isn’t shy about telling you his goals about the season and what he plans to do. When he arrived in Cleveland he was excited to be competing for a championship but would be traded on the last day of the trade deadline. The toughest part about getting the max money is he won’t be getting the starting job as Jamal Murray and Gary Harris are a great combo at the one and two. It will be interesting to see how coach Malone implements Thomas into the lineup. Thomas should maybe just take a step back and savor this opportunity because when he talks about his plans it hasn’t ended well for him.
