The Steelers & Le’Veon Bell have again failed to get a long-term deal done resulting in Bell missing all offseason activities & training camp for the second straight season. At this point, it seems like they’re content with paying him top dollar in one-year increments, rather than commit to a multi-year deal, in order to pinch their wallet long enough for Bell’s play to fall off.
That doesn’t seem to be happening anytime soon.
Bell has reportedly informed his Steeler teammates he’ll rejoin the team on Labor Day, the first day of the first week of the regular season, according to the Pittsburgh Gazette.
There doesn’t seem to be any hard feelings from the Steelers organization toward Bell’s yearly holdout, which makes it seem like as long as he continues to carry the team on his back for large chunks of the season; all is well in the Steel City.
If Le’Veon puts up huge numbers again this year, he’ll likely find a record-breaking deal elsewhere. However, if he looks to have lost a step, or looks anything less than the do-it-all back he’s made his bones being; he’ll find a much colder market than what he’s accustomed to.
