Two weeks ago, we reported that Louisville TE, Kemari De’Lon Averett, got arrested for holding a gun to his baby mama’s head and threatening to kill her, here at BSO. Worse, when the Cops arrested the 6’7″, 270 pound TE, Averett claimed that he had never met the woman, and he wasn’t the father of her child either.
Today, Averett found himself back in the Kentucky news headlines again, but this time, it was for rape. According to the Louisville Courier-Journal, another woman has also accused Averett of raping her back in mid-August 2018.
According to the woman, she reported the rape to an on-campus crisis center the same exact day that the rape allegedly occurred. After that, a whole month went by and some games went by too, and then Louisville finally ordered Averett not to have any contact whatsoever with this woman on October 8, 2018. A whole month and some change later…
On October 9, 2018, the Louisville University Police finally launched an investigation into the circumstances of the rape. Then, in true NCAAF fashion, Averett was on the field playing just four days later against Boston College.
Back when I originally reported on this story, I specifically said that Bobby Petrino was going to have some explaining to do because of his already-checkered past, and the Head Coach of Louisville is already copping pleas:
Kemari was already suspended from all team activity due to the incident on October 15, when I was notified of the most recent charge against him. He remains on suspension from all football activities and facilities while an investigation is conducted. I take all charges of misconduct seriously and act swiftly when conduct does not meet our expectations.
Again, Averett had plenty of priors too—specifically involving crimes of “holding people at gunpoint”—well before he ever enrolled at Louisville for school. Averett spent three months in juvenile detention back in 2014 for stealing someone’s cell phone at gunpoint. Subsequently, Averett violated the terms of his bond for the 2014 incident, and spent another nine days in Fulton County Jail. Louisville must have known what they were signing up for when they recruited this guy.
While Averett is actually admitting to knowing this woman this time, he is disputing her rape charges, and claims he was at practice during the alleged crime:
I’m already looking like the bad guy…
Know my word, it don’t matter right now. … I’m just the big and bad guy.
Safe to say, Kemeri Averett’s brief football career is probably over for good now. Flip the page to see a video of Averett in court for his first crime of holding a gun to his baby mama’s head.
