A prominent wide receiver is being called for cut by NFL fans after a disappointing performance on Monday night.
In a Monday Night Football rematch of Super Bowl 57, the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 21–17. The Chiefs’ lone significant problem during the contest? Patrick Mahomes, the quarterback, drops far too many excellent passes, like this one from wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling:

The Chiefs wasted the drop by Valdes-Scantling, as they turned it over on downs to plays later. Many people on social media called for MVS to be fired after his heinous error:

In the 2022 offseason, Valdes-Scantling signed a three-year contract, which he is currently in the second season of. It’s difficult to see Andy Reid and company removing one of their more seasoned ball catchers given Kansas City’s dearth of wide receiver depth.
