NBA veteran free agent Marcus Morris Sr. was arrested on Sunday in a Broward County, Florida, airport on suspicion of fraud in connection with an insufficient funds check charge. He is on an out-of-state hold in the Broward County Main Jail.
Markieff Morris, Morris’s twin brother and another NBA veteran, vented his annoyance over Marcus’s detention on social media.
On X, Markieff Morris wrote: “The wording is crazy,”. “Damn for that amount of money they’ll embarrass you in the airport with your family. They got y’all really thinking bro did some fraud s—. They could have came to the crib for all that. When y’all hear the real story on this s— man. All I can say is lesson learned. Bro will tell y’all tomorrow. This weird s— gave me a headache. Can’t stop nothin!”

The 13-year NBA veteran has represented eight clubs in 832 games during his career. His most recent season was 2023–24, during which he played in 12 games for the Cleveland Cavaliers and 37 games for the Philadelphia 76ers.
According to TMZ, the NBA star, a former Knick, was denied bond on Tuesday after it was alleged that he collected $265,000 from two significant casinos in Las Vegas in 2024 through fraudulent checks that he failed to repay after they failed to cash.
Morris is accused of stealing $115,000 from the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino and $150,000 from the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel and Casino using a similar fraud.
