Andrew Wiggins is back, but not back.
He held a press conference with Warriors General Manager Bob Meyers, where he spoke about his absence and when he believes he will be ready to play again via SI.
Andrew Wiggins has not played for the Golden State Warriors since February 13 due to a personal family matter, but he is back with the team now and is going to be back on the floor in the coming week or so.
Ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Wiggins spoke to the media alongside general manager Bob Myers and he discussed why his leave of absence of necessary.
“When you are in a certain situation and your family needs you, it requires your attention and your love. That’s my first priority,” Wiggins said. “My career, everything, family is always first for me and it will always be that way. I felt like I was in a safe space to come back and I feel like we had everything settled, not fully settled but in a safe place where I could come back.”
“I have been working out, but obviously the NBA is a different type of conditioning you need,” Wiggins said in regards to when he could potentially return. “I don’t think it will be too long before I’m up there.”
As far as talking about the Warriors, Wiggins was very grateful for the comfort his team showed him throughout his absence.Â
“It was all love and support,” Wiggins stated. “I had a lot of teammates just start hitting me up and sending their love and prayers. I just appreciated it all, it goes a long way. It means more than basketball.”
It has been reported that Wiggins’ father was going through a severe medical issue that he had to attend to.Â
With Wiggins, the Warriors are championship contenders.
