Well, looks like Trae Young is not just changing teams, he’s changing zip codes, vibes, and probably his favorite takeout spot too.
Fresh off being traded to the Washington Wizards, Trae is wasting no time cutting ties with his old life in Atlanta. And by “cutting ties,” I mean listing his mansion for a casual $8.17 million.
Now let’s talk about this house, because calling it a “house” feels disrespectful. This place is basically a palace. We’re talking massive rooms, fancy finishes, and the kind of space where you could get lost trying to find the kitchen. You know, normal everyday stuff.
But here’s the funny part. One minute, you’re the face of Atlanta basketball, the next minute, you’re packing boxes and telling your realtor, “Yes, let’s just list it ASAP.”
The centerpiece of the six-bedroom home is an airy great room with a double-height window wall that opens to an outdoor pavilion, which includes a saltwater pool, spa, sundeck and covered dining area. There is also a dual-kitchen setup with a 10-foot waterfall island in the main kitchen, a primary room with a bay-windowed lounge, a turfed yard and a four-car garage. There’s also a guest or staff suite with a separate entrance.
The finished basement is terraced but hasn’t been fully built out so it can be designed as the new buyer sees fit with space for a recreation room, gym, man cave, theater room or wine cellar.
It appears that Young purchased the home in July for $7.84 million via an Oklahoma-based LLC. He also owns a $20 million home in Calabasas, California, that he bought in 2022 via another Oklahoma-based LLC, according to The Wall Street Journal. Though he was born in Texas, Young grew up in Norman, Oklahoma.
At the end of the day, this is just another reminder that the NBA is a business. One day you’re comfortable, the next day you’re calling movers and listing your mansion like it’s a pair of sneakers on resale.
So if you’re in the market and have a spare $8.17 million lying around, congratulations, Trae Young’s old crib is waiting for you.
