Austin Reaves Tells OKC Fan to STFU For Heckling Luka Doncic After Injury

Austin Reaves had seen enough.

As Luka Doncic lay on the court in obvious pain with a left hamstring injury during the Los Angeles Lakers’ blowout loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday night, a courtside fan began taunting the superstar.

“Now you don’t wanna play defense,” the fan shouted at Doncic, according to video of the exchange that quickly spread on social media.

Reaves, the Lakers guard and Doncic’s teammate, immediately fired back.

“Shut the f— up! He’s f—ing hurt!” Reaves yelled at the fan, per multiple accounts and video clips from the game at Paycom Center.

The fan responded with “F— you!” sparking a heated back-and-forth in which Reaves repeatedly demanded respect for his injured teammate.

“F— you! Have some f—ing respect. … That’s some bulls—. Have some f—ing respect,” Reaves said, according to witnesses and footage. The fan continued chirping, at one point calling Doncic a “crybaby” and insisting he wasn’t hurt.

The confrontation occurred in the third quarter of the Lakers’ 139-96 defeat. Doncic, who had been on a tear in March averaging 37.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 7.4 assists, went down non-contact while attempting a jumper and immediately grabbed his left hamstring. He was helped off the court and did not return, finishing with 12 points and seven assists in 26 minutes.

Reaves, who was dealing with his own back discomfort but played through it to score a team-high 15 points, was among the first Lakers players to check on Doncic before confronting the heckler.

The Lakers (50-27) sit third in the Western Conference with the playoffs approaching in roughly two weeks. They are awaiting results of an MRI on Doncic’s hamstring scheduled for Friday. Medical experts have outlined scenarios ranging from a short absence in the best case to as many as six weeks in the worst case.

Coach JJ Redick and the team have provided limited updates so far, with LeBron James downplaying panic after the loss while acknowledging the concern.

The incident drew widespread attention online, with many NBA fans and observers praising Reaves for defending his teammate and criticizing the fan’s timing and lack of sportsmanship while a player was clearly injured.

Reaves has not publicly commented on the exchange beyond the on-court moment. The Lakers host their next game amid uncertainty over Doncic’s status and their playoff positioning.
