Newly released photographs showing New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel and NFL reporter Dianna Russini kissing at a Manhattan bar in March 2020 have fueled online speculation about the timing of their interaction — and whether it connects to the name of Russini’s firstborn son.
The images, obtained by Page Six and published Thursday, depict Vrabel and Russini at Tribeca Tavern on March 11, 2020. Eyewitnesses told the outlet the pair were “all over each other” and shared multiple kisses while sitting close at the bar. At the time, Vrabel was head coach of the Tennessee Titans and married; Russini was an ESPN NFL insider.
Russini married Shake Shack executive Kevin Goldschmidt in a Zoom ceremony on Sept. 26, 2020. The couple announced the birth of their first child, Michael Andrew, on Aug. 7, 2021. Their second son, Joseph “Joey” Kevin, arrived in October 2022.
Some social media users have questioned whether Russini named her eldest son Michael after Vrabel, whose given name is Michael. The photos surfaced just months before Russini’s pregnancy with Michael would have begun, according to a standard nine-month gestation timeline. Others have gone further, openly wondering if Vrabel could be the boy’s biological father.
According to public family information, Russini has a brother named Michael.
Neither Russini nor Vrabel has commented on the naming speculation or any questions about paternity. Both have denied any romantic relationship. In statements following earlier photos of the pair embracing at an Arizona resort in early April 2026, they described their interactions as “completely innocent.”
Vrabel, who joined the Patriots as head coach ahead of the 2025 season, said this week he has had “difficult conversations” over the matter but intends to focus on his team. Russini resigned from her role at The Athletic earlier this month amid the initial reports.
The 2020 images add a new layer to the public scrutiny that has intensified in recent weeks. No evidence has been presented to support claims beyond the documented timeline and the pair’s documented professional acquaintance.
As the photos continue to circulate on X and elsewhere, the questions remain: Was the name Michael chosen with Vrabel in mind? And could the timing of that 2020 encounter raise any possibility about paternity?
For now, those remain matters of public curiosity — with no confirmation from the parties involved.
