Professional boxer David Benavidez has found himself trending, but not for anything happening inside the ring. Instead, the headlines are focused on his personal life after his wedding was called off by his partner, Karina Silva.
Silva, who works as an influencer, entrepreneur, and model, posted a long message on Instagram on Sunday, July 5. In it, she revealed that the wedding was off. Just like that. No slow build, no teaser trailer. Just a digital announcement and emotional subtitles.
Then, almost as quickly as it appeared, the post vanished. Deleted and gone! Like it never happened. The internet, of course, reacted the way it always does.
The details of the “personal struggles” she mentioned were not fully explained. And honestly, the internet is not handling that silence very calmly.
“With an incredibly heavy heart, I, Karina, have made the painful decision to call off my wedding,” she wrote. “This is not the ending I prayed for.”
Despite cancelling the wedding, she remained graceful towards Benavidez and his personal struggles.
She wrote, “I loved David with my whole heart and truly believed that, through God’s grace, healing and restoration were possible. I never stopped believing in the man I knew he could be, and I spent years trying to build our relationship on faith, forgiveness, and hope.”
She continued, “I encouraged him to seek God, to be baptized, to pray, and to put Christ at the center of his life. I believed that if God could transform any heart, He could transform [Benavidez’s].”
Behind all the noise, the situation seems simple on the surface. Two people, a wedding plan, and life doing what it does best: interrupting timelines without asking for permission.
“The decision to cancel our wedding is because of his ongoing personal struggles that have affected our relationship, struggles that many people are already aware of,” she stated.
“I have spent years trying to protect him, defend him, and carry burdens that were never mine to carry. I can no longer continue doing that.”
Silva invoked her religion, while also holding Benavidez responsible for the pain he allegedly caused.
“My faith teaches me to forgive, to love, and to pray without ceasing. But it also teaches me that truth matters, that boundaries matter, and that sometimes the most loving thing you can do is stop shielding someone from the consequences of their own choices,” she remarked.
“I will never stop praying for David. I genuinely pray that he finds healing, peace, and a renewed relationship with God. I believe God can restore anyone who chooses Him wholeheartedly.”
For now, the wedding is off, the post is gone, and the speculation is doing laps around social media like it is training for a marathon.
