Olivia Miles, a standout player for the Minnesota Lynx, has been selected as the Kia WNBA Rookie of the Year by a unanimous vote.
Selected second overall in this year’s draft, Olivia Miles posted averages of 19.8 points, 6.0 assists, and 4.7 rebounds for a Lynx squad that ended the season with the league’s top record at 33-11.
Miles surpassed Caitlin Clark’s record for most points by a rookie and was the sole first-year player selected for this year’s All-Star Game.
Miles’ contributions were crucial for the Lynx, as star player Napheesa Collier missed her season debut until mid-July due to offseason surgery on both ankles.
She is one of six Minnesota players honored as Rookie of the Year.
Miles and the Lynx are optimistic that there are still more games to come this season. Even though Minnesota holds the top seed in the playoffs, they are trailing 1-0 in their first-round matchup against the New York Liberty following a 91-75 defeat on Sunday. In the loss, Miles contributed 11 points and led the team with eight rebounds.
