The former junior welterweight titleholder, Amir Khan, takes on up and coming prospect Carlos Molina this Saturday Night. Showtime will be televising the main event live from the L.A. Memorial Sports Arena in Los Angeles. Today both Khan and Molina weighed in at exactly the same weight, 139 lbs.
The atmosphere was light and cheerful at the weigh in. Both fighters looked focused and ready for their bout tomorrow but no animosity was shared between the fighters. Golden Boy Promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, kept the crowd energized and even brought out Santa at one point to get into the festivities. Even with all of the pageantry both fighters kept a look of determination on their face and their anticipation for the match was apparent.
Khan has been an exciting fighter his entire career and even though he has slipped out of that elite category his name still holds weight in boxing circles. Khan is looking to bounce back from his loss to Danny Garcia, a stoppage that occurred in a fight that Khan looked to be leading. Khan’s boxing future hinges on the result of this fight.
Molina is looking to propel himself to a title shot and Khan could be that launching pad that gets him there.
