Brock Lesnar may be headed back to the UFC and this time he’ll be completely healthy.
Wrestling Observer Newsletter‘s Dave Meltzer says that after Brock Lesnar’s contract expires with WWE this spring. Lesnar will likely sign with the UFC and make another run at the UFC heavyweight championship.
According to UFC President Dana White, Brock is open to fighting again:
“Brock Lesnar’s under contract with the WWE. We have a great relationship with him. He’s healthy and he has said that he’s interested in fighting again. It’s pretty amazing what [Lesnar] did and accomplished here while having diverticulitis. It would be interesting to see a 100-percent healthy Brock Lesnar compete.”
White was also asked if he was worried competitor Bellator MMA could make a run at signing Lesnar:
“Brock Lesnar wouldn’t go to Bellator. Brock wants to fight the best guys in the world. The best guys in the world are in the UFC.”
Brock’s contract with the WWE is up in March and it would be easy for them to work out a way for him to extend it a month and lose his title at Wrestlemania. That’d free up Lesnar to sign with the UFC and return for their annual UFC Fight Week in July.
Lesnar vs Werdum for the Interim UFC heavyweight title would be a great fight, if for some reason Cain Velasquez isn’t health enough to return by July.
