The Sixers cruised to victory in their home opener versus the Bulls Thursday night. The highlight of the night arrived after Markelle Fultz drained his first three-pointer of the season, leading to the home fans and social media showering the sophomore guard with approval.

A standing ovation for a three-pointer? Well, given the tumultuous nature of Fultz and his first year in the league, it’s hard not to be sympathetic toward last year’s first overall selection. With one game in the books, Fultz is seeking to build off of a rookie campaign known more for a mysterious shoulder injury and weekly broken jump-shot cellphone videos, than on-court play.
Charles Barkley agrees and had a direct message for keyboard tough guys “living in their grandmama’s basement”. Can’t say I disagree with anything he has to say. Many critics lost sight of Fultz being a 19-year old rookie one year ago.
