I don’t like to tell athletes they should retire. I wouldn’t want anyone telling me when to quit doing what I love to do, but with Collie it is more about his health than anything else.
He is so sensitive to concussions, is it really worth it to keep playing?
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Austin Collie left Sunday night’s 26-24 loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first quarter with a possible concussion.
Collie, who missed seven games in 2010 after suffering a pair of concussions, took a blow to the head from Pittsburgh linebacker Larry Foote while trying to haul in a pass from Andrew Luck. He was momentarily dazed before walking off the field under his own power and taken to the locker room for tests.
