The Captain of the team has spoken, so I guess we can all calm down.
Well no not really because talk is cheap, but it’s obviously 49ers head coach has the pulse of his team, and their support when he makes a decision.
Jim Harbaugh saw enough of quarterback Colin Kaepernick last week in a thrashing of the Bears to make a switch at quarterback and promote him over Alex Smith.
Many pundits questioned the coaches choice, but USA Today is reporting that 49ers and most importantly defensive captain Patrick Willis are all in with Harbaugh.
“I try not to get caught up in all of that. I try to only control what I can control, and that’s playing on the defensive side of the ball and making sure our guys are ready to go. Whoever is the starting quarterback on Sunday, we’re going to be behind him 100 percent. But as far as saying one or the other, we’re just going to support whoever is the quarterback.”
“Coach does a great job of preparing those guys at the quarterback position. I mean, they maintain great pride in it. They’re the first guys out and the last to leave the practice field. You could put (third-string quarterback Scott) Tolzien out there and I’d put money he could do some things really, really well also. Coach Harbaugh and the quarterbacks coach, they do a good job of making sure those guys are ready and that showed Monday night.”
Patrick has spoken.
