We can all always count on TNT NBA analyst Charles Barkley to save us when we need a touch of honesty. With current all-star votes being announced and the final votes due shortly Barkley told Fox Sports that fans should be not be allowed to vote for the starters in the NBA All Star Game.
“I don’t think the fans should ever vote is because they just vote for their favorite players,’’ Barkley told WMSF-FM. “I’m a big Kevin Garnett fan. But there’s no way in the world he should be starting the All-Star game right now. And the same way with Dwight Howard. Those fans who have penciled those two guys in (to) start… that’s a travesty to be honest. I like Dwight Howard but he ain’t played like no All-Star this year and Kevin Garnett (the same).’’
It’s hard to ague against Barkley when guys like Jeremy Lin almost lead the vote getting for the Western Conference. Lin isn’t even the best guard on his team.
Dwight Howard is a perennial all-star yes, but not this season.
