The Brooklyn Nets have struggled out the gate after being labeled championship contenders before the season. One of the Nets biggest issues has been their inability to define a indentity, and merge old fading stars in with their current crop of holdovers.
So far the results have been disastrous. After missing 10 days with a fractured in his hand, Paul Pierce returned to practice Monday.
Pierce may have taken sometime to look in the mirror, because he returned with a different attitude. One that spoke of doing what’s best for the team and fitting in.
According to Rod Boone of Newsday, Pierce even hinted at having no problem coming off the bench for the Nets.
Pierce said he's willing to do whatever it takes to help this team. Even said, unsolicited, that'd he'd be willing to come off bench. #Nets

Asked Kidd if Pierce off bench is an option. Said they haven't discussed it, but admitted he worked with 2nd team today to see how he looked

I think that’s something Kidd and the Nets should look at. Pierce could probably be two times as efficient playing against the second tier guys as a sixth man.
