While the NBA waits for August 23rd to come for an official announcement of the Kevin Love to Cleveland trade, number one pick and trade centerpiece Andrew Wiggins has decided not to stress about his name being in constant trade talks.
By now, the NBA’s worst kept secret is that Wiggins will be dealt to Minnesota as part of a Love-centric deal, and it would be understandable if the trade chatter had gotten to Wiggins. However, according to NBC Sports, the forward is doing everything but stressing over the potential move.
“Whatever happens is out of my control,” Wiggins said. “I’m not worrying about it right now.”
So far, at least, the glare of the spotlight hasn’t been too hard to handle.
“Going to Kansas University kind of prepares you for moments like this,” he said, “because at Kansas they treat the basketball players like rock stars.”
While his answers may seem a bit cliche, there’s no reason to believe that Wiggins is at all stressed about being sent to Minnesota. After Kansas coach Bill Self said that Wiggins would welcome the move, the top pick further emphasized that he is ready for anything in the league, whether that be a trade or playing with LeBron James.
If you’re a Timberwolves fan, you have to be excited to be bringing in a guy who prefers going against the LeBron James’ of the league rather than playing sidekick. We’ll see how things unfold once we get to the 23rd, until then everything is still speculation.
