The power of social media is on display yet again.
When some design plans for Golden State’s new arena appeared on the internet Tuesday, the first thing that came to the collective minds of just about anyone paying attention was the closed lid of a commode (older folks slang for toilet), and now the Warriors are speaking out to quell the worries of Warrior nation:
“This was presented at the meeting as very much a work in progress so that we could put the size of the building in context,” Warriors spokesman P.J. Johnston told ESPN.com. “In the next few months, we will continue to show much more and the arena design will continue to be refined. “This was clearly a reminder of the speed and fury of the Internet. This story spread like wildfire and became part of the news cycle. In the end, we will build a great home for the Warriors in an incredible location and we will meet the expectations of our fans.”
The Warriors are aiming for 2018 for the opening of their new 18,000 seat home, and now fans can cease worrying about their palace resembling a porcelain throne.
