Jeff Fisher says he isn’t a politician, but he gave a real political answer when asked about the Rams players “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot” gesture according to USA Today.
“I’m a head coach. I’m not a politician, an activist, or an expert on societal issues,” Fisher said. “So I’m going to answer questions about the game.”
Fisher described the pregame gesture by several of his players as a “choice to exercise their free speech.” He had not spoken to the five players about it by Monday evening, but he said he planned to.
“Those conversations will most likely remain confidential,” Fisher said.
Fisher could have backed his players a little stronger, but you have to remember there are 53 guys in that locker room. Some black, white, democratic, republican, religious, manzielish and I think you get the point I am trying to make.
As a coach, he didn’t want to take a side, but did make a point of saying that they players wouldn’t be disciplined in any way.
