Conor McGregor continues his poking and prodding the UFC champion, Jose Aldo. We’ve all heard what happens when you poke the bear, maybe that story isn’t told in Ireland.
McGregor was asked what happened in during the now infamous “head slap” in New York and he explained how it went down.
“I heard I slapped him in the back of the head,” McGregor said. “I didn’t slap him in the back of the head. I put my hand on his neck and I bent him over.”
Aldo shrugged it off as anything of importance:
“I don’t know,” Aldo said through an interpreter. “He just grabbed the hoodie of my jacket. It wasn’t a slap. I don’t know if he likes me or not.”
UFC president Dana White seems to be enjoying the back-and-forth banter between the two stars.
“This thing started to erupt right before we want back on the air,” White said. “(Aldo) doesn’t want to be touched. (McGregor) keeps trying to touch him. That’s been the fun I’ve been having.”
“In all my time that I’ve been here, I’ve never been a part of something like this tour,” White said. “It was the right thing to do. It was well worth it and it was a unique experience.”
UFC 189 is going to have a hard time living up to the theatrics of this press tour. If it’s even half as entertaining then it’ll be worth the price of admission.
